Book review – Zodiac by Sam Wilson…

A series of uniquely brutal murders targets victims from totally different walks of life. In a society divided according to Zodiac signs, those differences are cast at birth and binding for life. All eyes are on Detective Jerome Burton and astrological profiler Lindi Childs – divided in their beliefs over whether the answer is written in the stars but united in their conviction that there is an ingenious serial killer executing a grand plan. Together, they will unravel a dark tale of betrayal, lost love, broken promises and a devastating truth with the power to tear their world apart.
I have been given an ARC by Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
There is a slight problem with this book – there are an awful lot of grammatical errors and missing words that do, at times, make it a little difficult to follow the story. That’s easily fixed with a proof read. 🙂
This book has a society that is based loosely on the Indian caste system. Where you stand depends on your astrological sign. Capricorns at the top, Aries at the bottom.
The story is fast paced and kept me turning pages quickly. It was nice to read a murder mystery that was based on such a novel idea.
The two main characters, Burton and Lindi work well together, which makes for some interesting scenes. It’s also nice to see a lesbian playing such a pivotal character in this kind of story.
I devoured this story in 48 hours and would definitely recommend it.
I’m profoundly grateful to Netgally and Penguin for my copy.
A four out of five star read.
